Lightsabers. Everyone even vaguely aware of Star Wars knows that a lightsaber is a best weapon ever. “not as clumsy as a blaster”. It’s what I’ll have during the zombie apocalypse.
Now, my rant. If you cut any other mechanical weapon in half, it will not function properly. So why did Darth Maul’s continuing functioning properly after it was cut in half?
What really doesn’t make sense about broken lightsabers is that in Attack of the Clones, Anakin’s lightsaber gets fucked up and doesn’t work. Good story writing Lucas.
Now every casual fan of Star Wars knows that Luke’s lightsaber was changed from blue to green for Return of the Jedi because blue didn’t show up well enough against the sunny landscape of Tatooine. But logically, it really should’ve been blue. His first lightsaber (Anakin’s) was blue. The one he built on Tatooine during Shadows of the Empire was modeled after Obi-Wan’s (ever wonder why their lightsabers were identical, aside from the colour of the blade, that’s why). Blue would’ve been logical, although green is pretty cool, especially in the darkness during the fight on the Death Star and it blended well with the trees on Endor.
IMO, there also should’ve been more of a story about Count Dooku. He was pretty much the best thing about the prequel trilogy. Idk how much the Clone Wars movie and TV shows goes into it, but there’s not a whole lot. Just that he used to be on the Jedi council, and that Yoda trained him, he trained Qui-Gon Jinn, and then became a Sith. I bet when he was a Jedi he had a green lightsaber. Thoughts? He’s definitely the coolest Sith after Darth Vader, (Darth Sidious and Darth Maul can’t hold a candle to those two) plus he’s got a super cool curved lightsaber hilt.
One more plot hole. I believe it’s in either the Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi, Obi-Wan’s ghost mentions being trained by Yoda, although he was clearly trained by Qui-Gon. Now I suppose he was indirectly trained by Yoda because he trained Count Dooku who trained Qui-Gon, but it’s still a plot hole.
Now obviously having stormtroopers and clone troopers being clones of Jango Fett was an idea after the first trilogy. But why have all the commanders, captains, lieutenants and others who might be in charge be clones in the prequels, yet the Empire hires regular people (who they have to pay! unlike the clones, presumably) to do those duties in addition to commanding the Star Destroyers and Death Stars in the good trilogy. Why outsource for humans when there’s plenty of clones available? It’s just not efficient.
Always remember and don’t forget:
“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
